    A Modified Generalized Laguerre-Gauss Collocation Method for Fractional Neutral Functional-Differential Equations on the Half-Line

    The modified generalized Laguerre-Gauss collocation (MGLC) method is applied to obtain an approximate solution of fractional neutral functional-differential equations with proportional delays on the half-line. The proposed technique is based on modified generalized Laguerre polynomials and Gauss quadrature integration of such polynomials. The main advantage of the present method is to reduce the solution of fractional neutral functional-differential equations into a system of algebraic equations. Reasonable numerical results are achieved by choosing few modified generalized Laguerre-Gauss collocation points. Numerical results demonstrate the accuracy, efficiency, and versatility of the proposed method on the half-line

    Effect of Au Precursor and Support on the Catalytic Activity of the Nano-Au-Catalysts for Propane Complete Oxidation

    Catalytic activity of nano-Au-catalyst(s) for the complete propane oxidation was investigated. The results showed that the nature of both Au precursor and support strongly influences catalytic activity of the Au-catalyst(s) for the propane oxidation. Oxidation state, size, and dispersion of Au nanoparticles in the Au-catalysts, surface area, crystallinity, phase structure, and redox property of the support are the key aspects for the complete propane oxidation. Among the studied Au-catalysts, the AuHAuCl4-Ce catalyst is found to be the most active catalyst

    On similarities in infrared spectra of complex drugs

    A chromatographic separation of active ingredients of Combivir, Epivir, Kaletra, Norvir, Prezista, Retrovir, Trivizir, Valcyte, and Viramune is performed on thin layer chromatography. The spectra of these nine drugs were recorded using the Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. This information is then analyzed by means of the cosine correlation. The comparison of the infrared spectra in the perspective of the adopted similarity measure is possible to visualize with present day computer tools, and the emerging clusters provide additional information about the similarities of the investigated set of complex drugs

    Mechanical and corrosion behavior of amorphous and crystalline electroless Ni-W-P coatings

    Two types of electroless Ni-W-P coatings: nanocrystalline with low P and amorphous with higher P content are investigated. Scanning probe microscopy is applied to study their morphology. Textured nanocrystalline coatings consist of coarse pyramids built of nanometer thick lamellas. The surface morphology of amorphous coatings is much finer and uniform. Nanohardness of all coatings depends on W content. Microhardness is increasing during the heat treatment up to 350 °C due to nickel phosphide precipitation affected by tungsten also. The wear resistance of nanocrystalline Ni-W-P coatings is much higher than that of amorphous in spite of the similar tungsten content in both. Lower corrosion resistance of amorphous Ni-W-P coatings is found by weight loss method during long-term immersion in 5 % NaCl. Electrochemical tests by potentiodynamic polarization curves in two model corrosion media - solutions of 0.5 M H 2SO4 and 5 % NaCl - are performed. The corrosion of bi-layered Ni-W-P/Ni-P and Ni-W-P/Ni-Cu-P deposits on mild steel is also investigated. The results prove that an electroless Ni-W-P coating on mild steel extremely improves its mechanical and corrosion behavior.     Hydrolytic and Thermal Stability of Organic Monolayers on Various Inorganic Substrates

    A comparative study is presented of the hydrolytic and thermal stability of 24 different kinds of monolayers on Si(111), Si(100), SiC, SiN, SiO<sub>2</sub>, CrN, ITO, PAO, Au, and stainless steel surfaces. These surfaces were modified utilizing appropriate organic compounds having a constant alkyl chain length (C<sub>18</sub>), but with different surface-reactive groups, such as 1-octadecene, 1-octadecyne, 1-octadecyltrichlorosilane, 1-octadecanethiol, 1-octadecylamine and 1-octadecylphosphonic acid. The hydrolytic stability of obtained monolayers was systematically investigated in triplicate in constantly flowing aqueous media at room temperature in acidic (pH 3), basic (pH 11), phosphate buffer saline (PBS) and deionized water (neutral conditions), for a period of 1 day, 7 days, and 30 days, yielding 1152 data points for the hydrolytic stability. The hydrolytic stability was monitored by static contact angle measurements and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). The covalently bound alkyne monolayers on Si(111), Si(100), and SiC were shown to be among the most stable monolayers under acidic and neutral conditions. Additionally, the thermal stability of 14 different monolayers was studied in vacuum using XPS at elevated temperatures (25–600 °C). Similar to the hydrolytic stability, the covalently bound both alkyne and alkene monolayers on Si(111), Si(100) and SiC started to degrade from temperatures above 260 °C, whereas on oxide surfaces (e.g., PAO) phosphonate monolayers even displayed thermal stability up to ∼500 °C

    Consensus evidence-based recommendations for transition of care for adolescents with juvenile idiopathic arthritis: meeting patients’, parents’, and rheumatologists’ perspectives

    Abstract Background Transition of care means the process of educating and empowering adolescents and young adults to take an active role in their own healthcare, develop decision-making skills, and eventually transition from paediatric to adult healthcare providers. Most people do not switch doctors until they are young adults, but it can be beneficial to start preparing children earlier. We aimed to develop a specific toolkit tailored to paediatric and adult rheumatologists to assist them in transitioning of care of young people with juvenile onset rheumatic musculoskeletal diseases from the paediatric to adult rheumatology care. Results The expert panel was confined to an online survey (n = 18), all the experts completed the two rounds. At the conclusion of round 2, a total of 10 points were gathered. The range of respondents (ranks 7–9) who agreed with the recommendations was 88.9 to 100%. All 10 clinical standards identified by the scientific committee were written in the same way. Based on the answers to the structured key questions and the literature review, a structured template was developed presenting transition of care integrated pathway. Conclusion The developed rheumatology-specific guideline offers adolescents and young adults a focussed, multidisciplinary transition of care approach with equity of access, quality of care and flexibility and set up standards for transitional care for young adults with juvenile rheumatological diseases
